It is used to increase the pH of acidic waters and to remove small amounts of limited iron. Free mineral dioxide is absorbed during the contact with the mineral water and it may cause the increase of dissolved calcium hardness. In the meantime, it also serves as a filter. After a certain period of time, the mineral will be consumed and added.

50% of the amount of mineral required by the system must be reserved in the system for 6 or 12 months. It may be preferred that the tank is top and bottom connected for easy filling.
